On The Fringe is set for a third tilt at the Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival following his narrow reverse at Leopardstown last weekend.
Enda Bolger's 10-year-old was beaten into fourth when favourite for the 2011 renewal and finished third behind Tammys Hill 12 months ago.
He was beaten at odds-on when making his seasonal reappearance at Down Royal on St Stephen's Day, but performed better when touched off by the high-class Prince De Beauchene, who does not head for Cheltenham, at Leopardstown last Sunday.
Bolger said: "He's grand and he ran a good race and stayed on all the way to the line.
"He seems to have come out of the race well and he'll definitely have an entry in the Foxhunter in Cheltenham. At this stage it looks like he'll travel, but we'll see.
"The horse that beat him the other day doesn't qualify for Cheltenham and it's no mean feat to be beaten three-quarters of a length by him."
