Dantes Firth showed the benefit of her debut third at Gowran Park last month when taking the Horse And Jockey Irish National Hunt Flat Race (Mares) for the father and son team of Tom and Pat Foley.
The Flemensfirth mare, a well-backed 5/2 chance, was under pressure early in the straight but kept on gamely to hold on by three quarters of a length from Carrigeen Kariega (33/1).
Kymin’s Way (20/1) finished best of all to be just another half a length away in third.
Tom Foley said, “She had a nice run at Gowran. I was a bit afraid that the ground wouldn’t be soft enough for her but that opens up a few more options.
“Where she goes next depends on the weather as if it rains she could go for a winners bumper. She will go hurdling next season.”
The result was confirmed after a stewards enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong.
