Fish a result for the books in feature
Sword Fish was a result for the bookmakers in the featured Listowel Races Supporters Club Lartigue Hurdle as Alan Crowe's mount, on his first run since May, landed the big prize for the four-year-olds by half a length from Leblon
Sword Fish didn't look a likely winner as he was driven along from five out but he found enough in the straight to get the job done. The favourite, Doctor Deejay could only manage fifth place.
Frank Berry, representing winning owner, J P McManus, said of the Christy Roche-trained winner: "He stays well and Alan gave him a great ride. He's a bit tricky and would not give you his best every day but he's come back well after a break. Today was his Derby.
"Christy did well with him to get him freshened up and he jumped well and the better ground, which is a credit to Listowel, helped him too."
Meanwhile Alan Crowe mentioned: "He was a bit slow at the last but he found that bit extra on the run-in. The ground out there slowed the rest of them down and gave us a chance."
