Fingal lands gamble for Casey
Fingal Rock landed a nice touch in the Weatherbys Ireland GSB Hurdle for trainer Peter Casey.
The filly, backed from 8/1 in the morning into 4/1, overcame worries about the testing conditions to run out a convincing length-and-a-quarter winner.
Andrew McNamara sent his mount to the front before the last and she kept on well in the closing stages to assert from Doctor Deejay
The 2/1 favourite was grabbed on the line for second by Big Game Hunter
"I thought she had no chance. I couldn't believe the ground. She's only a small filly but she did better than I expected," said Casey.
"I was hoping they would call it off this morning but I'm glad they didn't now.
"I was delighted with her run at Naas last time and that's why we decided to come here. She'll go to Punchestown now."
