Filon D'oudairies powered clear in the closing stages to win the two-mile-two handicap chase at Thurles in fine style.

The Shane Broderick-trained gelding had lost out by the narrowest of margins over course and distance early last month and made no mistake this time.

Charlie O'Dwyer was prominent throughout on the 4/1 favourite and he jumped to the front two from home.

The French-bred was in control running down to the last and galloped on strongly on the run-in to post a five-and-a-half length win over Union Park

"It is great to get the win after being second twice and I've now trained six winners for J.P. (McManus) and four have been here It has been a lucky spot for me,” said Broderick.

"It was my first time talking to Charlie today and he gave him a great ride. I know (his parents) Conor and Audrey well alright and Conor was a top class jockey.

"I want to thank J.P. for giving me this horse to train and to Frank (Berry, racing manager) too. He is a nice horse, I think he'll improve next year and I'll talk to Frank and see what he says and what the plan is."
