Cats For Cash made all to win the opening A J C Group Newcastle Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick today, scoring for trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy.
The son of Mahler was a E32,000 2017 Derby Sale graduate and today got off the mark at the 14th attempt when staying on well on the run-in for a four lengths win over Patrick Joseph
Elliott later said "all the conditions suited him and the race was right. He has promised more than what he has showed but he's a gorgeous horse and he has won and that's great.
"I'd say he will go chasing and might go for those rated chases.
"He's owned by a good man, Liam Clancy, who has had horses with us a long time and is a big supporter of horse racing, so I'm delighted for him."
