Kristian Goingwel was the well backed winner of the Bluegrass Horse Feeds Handicap Chase at Down Royal today, scoring for trainer Oliver McKiernan and jockey Gavin Brouder.
Backed from 7/1 this morning and from 5/1 on the show, Kristian Goingwel was returned the 100/30 favourite and in the 2m4f race, was going well for much and beat runner-up Peterstown eased down by a length and a half.
The eight year old son of Beneficial was today registering a first career win at the 16th attempt and afterwards jockey Gavin Brouder said "the plan was to jump handy and make as much use of him as we could.
"His jumping was perfect today and he galloped to the line.
"He is very clever with his jumping, he measures them coming into them.
"Oliver (McKiernan) said he should have a good chance and he did too. He did everything right. I'm delighted to be riding him."
