Shamiyan added to a course and distance win 12 months ago when landing division one of the Dundalk Stadium Gift Vouchers Available Online Apprentice Handicap.
The Michael Halford-trained gelding was patiently-ridden by Mikey Sheehy who elected to mount his challenge on the outer in the straight.
The 15/2 chance made relentless progress under a strong drive and got on top in the final 100 yards to beat Macaban City by three-quarters-of-a-length with the front-running Lariat the same distance back in third.
The well-backed 7/4 favourite Duleek Street came under pressure early in the straight eventually finishing a further two-and-three-quarter lengths away in fourth.
Sheehy said, “I think that's the way to ride him, ride him cold. He loves passing horses, it builds up his confidence, and a big lad like him when he gets rolling he really gets going.
“The last day I told Mr Halford to put a line through it as I rode him too confidently, I was stuck three wide and had a bad trip around.
“Today we just dropped him in from the draw and thankfully it worked out.”
