There was drama in Division One of the two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse as the saddle slipped on the favourite Arctic Pearl and Roger Loughran was unseated approaching the last upon hitting the front.
He was battling Dromore Lad who was left a couple of lengths clear and duly obliged.
Dromore Lad made the most of his fortune as he was first reserve for this race and got in when June Carter was ruled out due to a temperature.
He was returned at 25/1 with Danny Hand doing the steering.
"It's his first run for me. He's a grand little horse, were' just feeling our way with him to be honest and it's a bit of a surprise,” said trainer Dermot McLoughlin.
“He only got in there late today and we said because he was local we'd run him. It's a new owner in the yard, Frank Reynolds, who came to me a couple of months ago so it's a nice start.
“Danny said he couldn't lie up early and when they came back to him turning in he picked up well and flew them.
“We probably got a bit of luck with the other horse unseating but we'll take it.” Bronco Bill came through for second at 6/1, beaten a length and a half. Lady Quill (33/1) was seven lengths back in third at 33/1. Wiiphania (8/1) grabbed fourth place.
