Double for Geraghty as Economy takes the last
Barry Geraghty recorded a first (Sailors Warn) and last race double at Limerick this afternoon as he guided the Michael Hourigan trained False Economy to success in the STL Logistics EBF Beginners Chase.
The race looked set for an exciting conclusion as the 8/11 favourite Far Away So Close and the winner raced towards the second last with nothing between them.
However the favourite fell, after jumping poorly throughout, leaving False Economy to come home an comfortable three length winner from the Mouse Morris trained Four Commanders (7/1). Baily Green finished a further eighteen lengths back in third at the odds of 13/2 also for Mouse Morris.
The winner, who was returned at 8/1, was having his first start over fences today and was recording his fifth career win.
Winning trainer Michael Hourigan said afterwards: "He is a very nice horse. He probably wants a bit better ground, but he had been schooling so well at home we said we would take our chance.
"He will probably make a very nice chaser."
