Eddie Cawley interrupted Gordon Elliott's run of winners at Down Royal today as he landed race five with Dont Go Yet
The first three fences were ruled out so there was precious little jumping involved in this extended two mile handicap chase.
Dont Go Yet led after the first and made the rest however, he looked vulnerable to a closing Bythesametoken but found for Philip Byrnes in the closing stages.
He took the honours at 18/1 by half a length from the 10/1 runner-up. Elliott's Irish Blaze (7/1) was another four and three-quarter lengths back in third.
Cawley said: "When I heard the three fences were left out I was concerned because jumping is his forte. There wasn't much jumping!
"It was a long run home and I said he will definitely get idle. He could have wilted when I saw Keith (Donoghue on Bythesametoken) coming on his outside.
"He has a good mark over hurdles and we will see what the handicapper does. I've run him quite a few times over hurdles and he runs well, but he is a horse that doesn't see out his races.
"I'd be tempted to go back over hurdles as he will get a few pounds for that. He has a few pounds to spare (over hurdles), you'd hope anyway."
