Willie Mullins has enjoyed a flood of winners in the past week and got off the mark for 2017 when his Next Destination (8/15f) made a winning racecourse debut for the Champion Trainer in the concluding Join Us In January (Pro-Am)INH Bumper at Fairyhouse today, winning under his son and jockey Patrick Mullins.
The Malcom Denmark owned gelding and Mullins junior were made work hard in the closing stages to hold off fellow point to point winner Derrinross but eventually did so, by three parts of a length.
Following the race Mullins senior, who had a whopping 22 winners from Monday (26th) to Thursday (29th) stated “he's a nice chasing type and I got him from John Costello (having won a point to point). He'll go for a winners bumper, and will go novice hurdling next season. He's a staying type and a straight forward horse."
