The Bord Na Mona Recycling Apprentice Handicap resulted in a third win of the campaign for the 7/2 favourite Loingseoir
The 5-year-old son of Henrythenavigator goes well for Annalise Cullen, who won on him earlier in the year at Fairyhouse and Roscommon, and she brought him through from mid-division to hit the front over a furlong from home.
Loingseoir kept on well to account for Reverberation by a length and a half with Coins Cross and Khafaaq completing the placings.
Now a four-time winner in total, the winner was demonstrating his versatility as his previous wins had come over ten and twelve furlongs.
He was making a quick reappearance having dead-heated for second at Tipperary on Monday.
Winning trainer Michael Grassick (eighth winner of the season) said: "We actually thought the ground was drying out a bit for him as the times aren't that bad.
“It was the end of the season and I took a chance dropping him back to a mile thinking with it being an apprentice race they would go good and hard. He was on the ball in fairness to him.
“I told Annalise (Cullen) to try and get him on the front foot coming out as he's inclined to be a little bit slow away. He jumped and travelled really well.
“There was a race for him in Naas next weekend but he's probably not going to be qualified for that now.
“I think there is a 50-80 in Naas on the very last day of the season for him but he's also in the horses-in-training sale at Goffs a few days later and will probably go there.
“The lads have bought a yearling and are looking to move on and try to upgrade. I wouldn't like to see him go but the plan is to go to the sales.”
