Clonmel provides a platform for claiming and less successful riders today with four races restricted to those who have yet to ride ten winners this season, two opportunity rider events and a bumper making up the seven-race National Hunt card beginning at 4pm.
Richie Condon delivered one of the heart-warming stories from last month’s Cheltenham Festival when giving Heaven Help Us a tremendous front-running ride to land the Coral Cup, and the 24-year-old has good prospects of adding to his tally aboard Tangental in the Tote.ie Home Of The Placepot Handicap Hurdle (5.00).
The Michael Butler-trained gelding caused a 50/1 shock when scoring at Fairyhouse last time but will be nothing like those odds here off a 6lb higher mark with Ask David and Mister Butler among his chief rivals.
Peterjon Carberry is another with plenty to look forward to at Clonmel as he’s booked to ride the fancied pair Sheshoon Sonny (5.35) and Reine Fee (6.05).
Jack Wildman hasn’t enjoyed much luck with injuries over the past few years but will be hopeful of partnering a winner for the Cullentra House team as Humble Glory has solid claims in the Join Tote.ie Mares Maiden Hurdle (4.30).
By contrast Simon Torrens has recorded a number of big race wins in the colours of JP McManus this season and the Padraig Roche-trained Marshalled may prove another in today’s feature race — the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase (6.35).
