In-foal Clairmc (5/2f) is rounding her career off in style and today completed consecutive Wexford wins, in the Neville Hotels Handicap Chase, to provide her trainer Gavin Cromwell with a cross-card double.
The Walk In The Park-mare failed to win in 13 bumper and hurdles but managed a second-place and a win over fences last month and today scored by a neck from Berliet Exprss.
Cromwell, successful with Snellen at Royal Ascot last month, atttended Bellewstown where his Final Orders won, and at Wexford, Donoghue reported "I knew Clairmc would battle coming back to two miles today. I was going well down the hill and probably ran into a bit of a pocket.
“When I saw Berliet Express coming on the outside I thought he could be a weak enough finisher, so I wasn't too worried and I knew it was a long straight here.
"When I rode her in Tramore I said to Gavin that she mightn't have stayed 2m5f, so the trip today wasn't a worry. She had been disappointing and we didn't think it would take her as long to win, but now she is after winning two in-a-row. She is in-foal and I'm not sure how long she has left."
