Carberry stood down after fall

Sun 7th Nov 2010, 13:49

Championship leader Paul Carberry has been stood down for the remainder of the afternoon after taking a heavy fall from Jetson in the opening maiden hurdle at Navan.

The 7/4 favourite was brought down when Three Way Bond (Bryan Cooper) fell just in front of him at the fifth last in the two and a half mile race, leaving Carberry with a bruised and very sore foot.

Cooper sustained a soft tissue injury to his right thigh but is expected to ride at Limerick tomorrow.

Carberry has ridden 43 winners so far this season, four ahead of nearest challenger Andrew McNamara. The jump jockeys' title has of course been thrown wide open this season with Ruby Walsh sidelined for some time after breaking his right leg at Down Royal yesterday.
