Bushmans Pass was produced from off the pace by Philip Enright to lead on the run-in to win the Limerick Racecourse Vets Novice Handicap Chase at Limerick.

Held up in mid-division in the early stages of the contest, Enright moved closer after three out, tracking Rolly Bowley Boy and Baldur's Gate into the straight.

The latter appeared to be travelling best on the run to two out, as he came through to lead under Sean Flanagan. However, having overjumped and pecked on landing the Denise O'Shea trained gelding soon came off the bridle.

Leading at the last, he was challenged and quickly overhauled by Bushmans Pass over 200 yards out, with Rolly Bowley Boy getting back up for second.

Phillip Enright said: “They went a good gallop and I just said I’d try and hold onto him until we got over the second last and in fairness he’s picked up and galloped out to the line.

“He won a bumper on heavy ground and Oliver has had loads of patience with him. I was happy all week when it was raining.”
