Tintangle gave Gordon Elliott's Trainers' Championship prospects a boost when landing the concluding Listed Lauro At Hayes Stud EBF(Mares) Bumper at Fairyhouse today, scoring for owner Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud and jockey Nina Carberry.
Championship leader Elliott had earlier seen E70,000 wiped off his lead by pursuer Willie Mullins but Tintangle's win in the E23,600 to the winner race was gained at the expense of the Mullins trained Masons Daughter which picked up E8,000.
The gap now stands at approximately E510,000 and following the race, Elliott stated “she's a nice, big honest mare and a mare for next year and is a chaser in the making.
“I thought that was decent and she's looks nice and she settled better than she ever settled there.”
Next week's pivotal season-ending Punchestown festival is in Elliott's every thought and when asked if the winner would be put away now he joked:- “I will yeah until next week!
“That might be it for her though as I've the other mare that was second in the sales race (Black Tears).”
