Browne looks a class act
Thegreatjohnbrowne proved different class to his rivals in the Florida Pearl Chase at Punchestown as he produced a power-packed front-running performance.
Davy Condon never had a anxious moment on the big son of Beneficial as he completed a quick double for himself and Noel Meade.
He had his rivals hard at work going to the third last and soon opened up a comfortable gap on the field, in the Grade 3 contest.
The 11/8 favourite stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a comfortable seven-length victory over Tharawaat who had survived a bad blunder two out.
"Tim Carroll did all the schooling on him and from day one he's been brilliant. He just can't wait to get to the next one. Davy said he has never sat on a novice like him" said Meade.
"Last year he had a little wind op - he just had a blockage. We always thought he was a good horse but he was pulled up twice.
"The plan is the Drinmore along with the other lad (Realt Dubh), unfortunately that's the way it goes. Hopefully the two of them stay right. They both want a trip."
Labrokes and Stan James both go 16/1 about the winner for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham while Paddy Power offer 25/1.
Paddy Flood, who was unseated at the last on Erritt Lake gave up his remaining rides and is set for x-rays on his collarbone.
