Co Carlow based trainer Katy Brown registered her first Irish winner at Dundalk this evening as the Englishwoman landed the Dundalk Stadium Apprentice Handicap with Secret Memories under Ross Coakley.
Brown, who started out with the late Dandy Nicholls in Britain, has worked for trainers Paddy Twomey and Sabrina Harty in Ireland and was today gaining a second career win, with Secret memories also having won in Wetherby in June.
Following today's success, Brown said “we came up here confident tonight and it's paid off.
“She's been unlucky on her last couple of runs; at Wolverhampton last week she missed the kick and clipped heels three furlongs out.
“We've always thought a lot of her and she's treated well. She's going to get a little break and we'll look for a race for her in January.
“She's a nice big filly, with plenty of size about her and we were even thinking about going over hurdles.
“This is my first winner in Ireland and she's my only winner. She won in Weatherby and is a good old stalwart to have around.”
She added “we're based down in Myshall in Carlow and we've about 11 in at the minute between Flat and jumpers and a few point-to-pointers.
“We're kept going and we've a few nice horses that haven't run.”
