Trainer Jim Bolger and stable jockey Kevin Manning combined for their first Group winner of the year today as Cimeara landed the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Stanerra Stakes at Leopardstown.
The pair had teamed up for Listed wins in May and June with Turret Rocks and Zorion respectively and today gained a valuable Stakes race victory with home-bred Cimeara, by Bolger's stallion Vocalised, which beat Sizzling to win by two and a half lengths.
Bolger, who trained today's race-titled star mare Stanerra in her early career in the 1980s, commented “her last run was a good one and the form is working out. She has won on heavy ground before so is versatile.
“She’s in the (Yorkshire) Oaks so we’ll have to think about that. She will probably stay two miles which would open up more possibilities.
"I usually leave it until the end of the year before deciding on whether a filly will stay in training but at this stage I would say it is probably 50/50.”
Bolger had earlier won a handicap with Signing Off who supplied Daire Davis with his first career winner and the jockey reverted to lead-up by duties with Group winner Cimeara.
