Black on Zero no more as gamble landed

Black Zero landed a gamble in the concluding Irish Racing Yearbook Handicap Chase at Gowran to gain his first victory on attempt number twenty under Rules.
The Blueprint gelding was also without success in six outings 'between the flags' but he has time on his side as a mere six-year-old and in fairness to him he came here on a consistent run of form.
Philip Enright took the reins on the lightly-weighted Black Zero for just the second time and he headed the pace-setting Indian Fairy from after three out.
Backed in from as big as double figures this morning into 7/2 favouritism, Black Zero was being pressed by the rallying Indian Fairy when that one fell at the last.
Michael McDonogh's Black Zero was then left clear to beat Heavenly Brook by eight lengths.
"He kept going and ended up an easy winner when the other horse fell at the last.
"He travelled and jumped and the light weight on that ground was a big help," reported Enright. (AM & EM)
