After finishing last of four behind the hugely talented Energumene at Naas last time today Farmix got back to winning ways in the Punchestown Festival Of A Different Colour Rated Novice Chase.
Jack Kennedy took the reins on the attractive Al Namix gelding for M L Bloodstock Limited and Liz Doyle, and the French bred six-year-old took his score over fences to two from three.
The 4/1 victor led, made a mistake five out, and he was joined three out.
Ridden to lead again entering the straight Farmix asserted approaching the last, keeping on well to beat Dinny Lacey and Sempo by five and a half lengths and five lengths.
“He’d two very bad mistakes the last day and Donagh (Meyler) looked after him beautifully and let him just come home up the straight,” said Miss Doyle.
“He’s not a quick horse but he jumps so well and has such a big long stride that we’ll keep him to two (miles). I’m thrilled with that.
“He’s a big baby but progressing the whole time as he gets his confidence over jumps. I really like this horse and think there could be more in him.
“He might get an entry in a handicap in Cheltenham. He’s not overly experienced so we’ll see what happens. That was a good opportunity today.”
