Triple Grade 1 winner Bellshill made a winning debut over fences in thick fog at Gowran today, readily landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase for trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Ruby Walsh.
The son of King’s Theatre was a Grade 1 bumper winner before adding two top level novice hurdle wins last season and today made light work of beating 11 rivals by ten lengths and more, having jumped to the front at the second last fence.
Mullins and Walsh were completing a double on the day having won with Invitation Only in an earlier race and following Bellshill’s success, Mullins stated “you would have to be happy with that. He appeared to jump great, and when Ruby asked him for one at the second last he really gave it to him.
"I'm looking forward to his next rung up the ladder, and he can step up to three miles anytime."
