Danny Mullins completed the most unusual feat of riding a double on horses trained by his mother and father as he followed up his earlier victory on Mumbo Bay when Battling Boru triumphed in the John Mulholland Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle at Galway.
His mother Mag trains Mumbo Bay and the 35/1 brace was completed when Tony's Battling Boru led two out before fending off Tawseef by a length.
The favourite Cassells Rock finished off well from off the pace for the third spot, another half a length behind.
"He jumped brilliant today. Danny thought riding him more prominently sharpened up his jumping. We'll try to win another one and, if he goes up too much in the weights, he'll go chasing.
"It's a great double for Danny with his mother and father, and with all that's gone on it will give him a nice confidence booster. The Shoot A Hoop Syndicate (owners) are three Burke brothers from Athlone," said Tony Mullins. (AM & EM)
