Trainer Johnny Murtagh returned from ITV presenting duties for Royal Ascot on Wednesday and today registered a win in the Grant Thornton Apprentice Handicap at Limerick with well backed 2/1 favourite Baba Boom
Ridden by Ross Coakley, the son of Thewayyouare moved to the front with a furlong to race and in the end scored a two and a quarter lengths win over top weight Dasmyhoss
Afterwards Murtagh said “he ran very well at Navan and stayed on nicely. He's a huge horse who has developed well over the winter. He put on 20kgs and was probably raw last year.
“He's really clicked well there and Ross was happy with him and said he idled a bit when he hit the front. We'll keep going in handicap company.”
