War Of Attrition rolled back the years to produce a stylish front-running performance in the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran.

Niall Madden 's mount had his rivals in trouble from before the turn, in the Grade 2 contest, and stayed on strongly in the closing stages to beat Powerstation by four lengths.

8/11 favourite Oscar Dan Dan was the first horse beaten and eventually trailed in last of the four.

Trainer Mouse Morris was delighted with the performance of his charge, who sported cheekpieces for the first time, and said of the Michael O'Leary-owned gelding:-

"I got great pleasure out of that - it was great to see and he did it well.

"There were no excuses for the others. They all had their chances. He had a real sparkle about him today and his ears were pricked the whole way.

"I haven't had that much pleasure since he won the Gold Cup. He's in the World Hurdle but the (Aintree) Grand National is the plan and he'll be retired after that."

Labrokes cut the 2006 Gold Cup winner from 40/1 to 33/1 for the Grand National.
