- Another win for Annie Other
Another win for Annie Other
Annie Other recorded her third win of 2011 as she took the second race on the card, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Hurdle, for the father and son team of Pat & Jack Doyle
The winning daughter of Bob Back won her bumper at Wexford back in May of this year before following up in a maiden hurdle over the course in July.
Sent off the 9/4 favourite last time out she failed to get the better of Table Forty Six going down by three parts of a length over 2m 3f, around the course.
However dropping back to two miles today she had no trouble in the beating that fellow and her other three rivals.
Having opened at 9/4 on track she was well supported and went off the 7/4 joint favourite with Coscorrig
Coscorrig attempted to make all but was ridden and headed before the second last as the winner took over in front. She kept on well from there to score from the staying on Spring Hawk back in second at 6/1.
Jim O'Leary husband of the winning owner Elizabeth O'Leary, said afterwards: "We bought her as a broodmare as she is well bred. She is related to Thisthatandtother (who won ten for Paul Nicholls, including three Grade 2 Chases and a Grade 1 Hurdle)."
Winning rider Jack Doyle, who was rushing to get a plane back to England as he rides at Stratford tomorrow, said afterwards: "She stays well and it turned into a stamina test which suited her."
After the race Doyle was cautioned by the Stewards to ride with more care in future, as he drifted right aboard the winner after the last, in front of Coscorrig.
