- All goes to Plan for Carberry
All goes to Plan for Carberry
Plan A had to work to get the job done in the opening Thomastown Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park, but ran out a cheeky winner in the end.
Paul Carberry 's mount had travelled well until the turn-in but had to be shaken up at the second last.
He stayed on into contention at the last and got to the front on the run-in from duelling pair Knight Eagle and Luddenmore
Carberry then sat up on the 7/4 favourite in the closing stages to post a cosy victory.
The winner came into this on the back of a fine effort to finish third in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham and was making his first start for trainer Gordon Elliott.
"He's a nice horse but I was a bit worried about the ground being so soft," said Elliott afterwards.
"The Fred Winter is the plan with him now."
