98/1 Double for Colin McBratney
If Colin McBratney thought things couldn't get any better after landing the Galway Plate Trial with Ballyholland he was wrong, because half-an-hour later he saddled newcomer, Bachelor Lad to complete a 98/1 double for his Crossgar, Co. Down-based outfit.
Danny Fitzsimmons put up a pound overweight on the son of Bach and he made all, punching the air as he crossed the line to mark his first winner on the racecourse proper.
McBratney said: "Paul Nicholls won a bumper with a relation (Penyfan Dawn). He is a nice horse and he'll probably go for a winners bumper next before novice hurdling."
