Sandra Hughes and David Mullins combined for a 59/1 Naas double when Total Recall landed the Naas Supporters Handicap Hurdle for the Slaneyville Syndicate.
Half an hour earlier Mullins had taken the Grade 3 novice chase for Hughes on the Gigginstown House Stud-owned Sub Lieutenant and here he was expected to be there or thereabouts on third market choice, Total Recall (5/1).
The victorious Westerner gelding was never far away and he got to the front before the last. He then held on from the rallying Aengus (33/1) by a neck.
Owner J P McManus had the third and fourth home, A Great View and Fairly Legal
"He was late coming back this season so we decided to stay over hurdles, and he can go chasing next season," commented Ms Hughes.
"He needs further and has been hanging terrible in his races but he was straight as a gun barrel today. He needs to go left-handed. He'll step up in trip and we'll see what's available for him. He could go to Aintree."
