Nina steers home gambled-on Charlie's Vic
Noel Kelly saddled 7/4 favourite Charlie's Vic to win the concluding bumper at Sligo with Nina Carberry in the saddle. Co Derry based trainer Kelly had also sent out Mighty Whitey to win this bumper last year at 25/1. Mon 23rd May
The plan was to run in this race after she won her beginners chase. She jumped well and had no problem stepping up to three miles. She probably needs three miles even though she is only a six year old. Fairyhouse is only two weeks away and that might be a bit sharp for her. It took five hours to get down here and she was fed at 4am this morning.

That was straight-forward enough. I was just a bit worried that it came a bit soon after her last run (a Punchestown win a fortnight back). She had to make it a gallop in case she got caught out. A 5-horse race like that can be a bit messy. She's still young and being by Old Vic she probably won't mature fully until she gets older.
