So Close but Far Away gets job done
I'm delighted with the battling qualities he showed today. He missed the last three hurdles and Davy felt he had loads of horse going to the last but he missed that too. He has come back with a dirty over-reach though. We thought he had a small issue with going right-handed after he hung at Thurles early in the year. However he had a tooth problem at the time so we thought we'd try him again this way today and Davy said it wasn't a factor there. That obviously opens more doors for him. Davy said he didn't have as hard a race there as it looked. A strong run two miles suits him and he will go for the For Auction race at Navan (a Grade 3 on November 7th) now.
Turner Brown has the winning habit
I was worried about the trip as I thought it might be too short for him. He did it well though, he stuck his neck out and jumped brilliantly. Andrew had loads of confidence going out. Hopefully he'll go to Cheltenham next for a two mile five conditional jockeys hurdle on the Friday of the November meeting.
It's Ferris Bueller's day at 33/1
I would have been delighted if he'd been in the first three or four. He stays well though and he is only a four-year-old so he is something to look forward to. He'll make a real nice staying horse and he seems to take everything in his stride.
Three up for Carberry on the Wildcat
The good ground is the key to him and it was a good ride from Paul.
Aengus not for catching at Punchestown
We fancied him a bit as he'd won a schooling bumper at Dundalk from a horse that went on to win a bumper in England and they left the third horse there back at the toll bridge!. Just to be sure he went to Limerick for another school and he won down there by thirty lengths under Garrett Cotter. He is a good galloper and he will make a real nice three mile chaser. I hadn't looked beyond today but he could go for a winners bumper. He is for sale.
