Andrew McNamara landed a double at Wexford highlighted by the victory of Headford Flyer in a dramatic renewal of the Black Point Beginners Chase.

The Eoghan O'Grady-trained eight-year-old looked hard pressed to stay in contention when the race hotted up, but Ainm Spartacus fell when in front three out and Better Times broke down badly on the home bend.

McNamara kept Headford Flyer going and to the 11-2 chance's credit he battled back into it before grabbing Mayo Mystique after jumping the final fence to score by a length and a quarter.

The jockey had earlier won on the Tom Foley-trained Golanbrook who bounced back from a poor run last time out to take the feature race, the Black Point Handicap Hurdle.

McNamara went to the front from the start and had the field at full stretch on the final circuit before the 8-1 shot ran on strongly to hold Benefit Of Porter by two and a quarter lengths.

In contrast, Paul Carberry rode a typically patient race before winning the Cahore Point Handicap Hurdle on Adrian Murray's nine-year-old Fairymount Lord

The 6-4 favourite was settled towards the back and still had plenty to do when Vicalus took the lead going to the second-last, but he made rapid progress on the home turn and was bang in contention at the final flight before winning by a cosy length and a half.

Declan Bates asserted going to the final fence on Good Luck Chuck (7-2) in the Broomhill Point Handicap Chase and David Kelly's eight-year-old forged away to win by six lengths.

Champion jockey elect Davy Russell took the Ingard Point Maiden Hurdle, leading all the way on the Paul Nolan-trained Big Generator (7-2), who saw off Ontheground after the last to win by a length and a half.

The top team of Willie and Patrick Mullins took the Knockhouse Stud Mares INH Flat Race with Letherbelucky (13-8 favourite), but she had to pull out all the stops to overcome Top Madam
