Johnny Murtagh suffered a double blow after transport problems forced him to miss the winning ride aboard Rain Delayed at Tipperary.
The rider had travelled to London to make an ultimately unsuccessful appeal against the five-day suspension which rules him out of the Coral-Eclipse next Saturday.
Murtagh could not then make it to Tipperary in time, leaving Keagan Latham to step in aboard Ger Lyons' 2-5 favourite in the BBQ Night At Tipperary Race.
It proved an easy job for Latham too, as Rain Delayed went clear inside the final furlong to come home a cosy three-quarter-length winner.
Shane Lyons, the winning trainer's brother, said: "He deserved that after running so well at Sandown last time out.
"That will be a nice confidence booster for him. We were a little concerned about the ground but the best of the ground is on the inside rail.
"He is developing all of the time and with another year under his belt, he is going to make a lovely sprinter."
Latham was completing a double after an earlier success on Atlantic Cycle (6-4 favourite) in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
Winning trainer Willie McCreery said: "She was very unlucky the last day in Navan, she reared up in the stalls. She's a smart filly and has come on from her last run."< Carazam (9-10 favourite) overcame a tardy start to bag the Thomastown Castle Stables Median Auction Maiden for trainer Tommy Stack and jockey Wayne Lordan.
The Azamour colt fell out of the stalls but worked his way back into contention to see off Sichuan Province by a length and a half.
Stack's son and assistant Fozzy said: "Wayne said he was the greenest two-year-old he has ever ridden for us.
"He stays well and he loves the fast ground.
"We'll take one step at a time with him. We might go for a winner's race before stepping him up to better company."
Murtagh also missed the ride on Lord Kenmare in the Galtee Walking Club Handicap but the favourite finished well behind 13-2 winner Conry
