Review tipperary 18th Jul
< The Tooth Fairy took the feature Summer Festival Handicap at Tipperary under a cool ride from 7lb claimer Gary Carroll.
The pair combined to good effect at Down Royal last month but were sent off at the generous odds of 13-2 here. Michael Mulvany's three-year-old colt looked to have a bit to do when Fit The Cove appeared to make a winning move just over a furlong from the finish, but Carroll remained composed.
A gap opened on the inside and The Tooth Fairy burst through in the dying strides to steal the prize by a length.< Ejteyaaz delivered on the promise of his Roscommon debut when narrowly landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for the Kevin Prendergast yard.
Second when sent off favourite first time out, the 8-15 market leader made no mistake under Declan McDonogh on this occasion, holding off the challenge of Andantino by a short head.
Prendergast and McDonogh completed a double through Cornakill in the Knockanglass Stables Nursery.
The recent Down Royal Scorer was never far from the early pace and after kicking clear at the furlong pole, the 4-1 joint-favourite stayed on well to beat Cognomen by two lengths.< Ucanchoose gained a deserved first success in the www.tipperaryraces.ie Handicap.
The Andrew Slattery-trained 5-1 chance hit the crossbar on his two most recent starts, but broke the curse by three-quarters of a length from Faynita in the hands of Wayne Lordan.< Bay Knight (11-1) upset the short-priced Silver Shoon in the Ballykisteen Maiden.
Willie McCreery's inmate had shown precious little on his first two starts, but took a significant step forward with a cosy three-length defeat of the market leader under Keagan Latham.
The Willie O'Rourke Memorial Handicap went the way of Taralga (8-11), while fellow odds-on favourite Tamarind proved too strong in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, scoring as a 2-9 shot should.
