Queen Alphabet and Pat Smullen (red) get the better of Grey Sky Blue and Chris Hayes

< Alishan overcame trouble in running to make a successful start to his career in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Median Auction Maiden at Roscommon.
Pat Smullen tracked the leaders on the Dermot Weld-trained 3-1 chance but found himself short of room two furlongs out.
Smullen angled him out, though, and the half-brother to 2009 Irish Leger hero Alandi saw out his race well to collar Admodum and prevail by three-quarters of a length.
Smullen doubled up when Queen Alphabet got the better of Grey Sky Blue in a ding-dong tussle for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

Jamie Codd rode a patient race on Blood Crazed Tiger in the Kepak Flat Race, but produced him with a perfectly-timed challenge and the 11-4 joint-favourite saw off Lakeside Castle by five lengths.
