< Reckless Endeavour lowered the colours of a couple of well-touted colts when opening his account in good style in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Naas.
Ger Lyons' inmate came into this on the back of promising efforts at Tipperary and Down Royal but was sent off a relatively unconsidered 10-1 chance behind hot favourite Lieutenant General and newcomer Herald The Dawn
The aforementioned pair cut out the early running but there were none travelling better than Reckless Endeavour at the two pole and he quickened up really well on the way to recording a one and three quarter length success.
The classy Toscanini resumed winning ways when holding off Letters Of Note in the Boston Access Supporting Console Race.
The son of Shamardal was second to Gleneagles in Group One company last year and came into this on the back of creditable efforts here and at Royal Ascot.
However, the 4-11 favourite was made to work harder than many expected as Letters Of Note produced a strong run inside the final furlong and the winner only had a neck to spare at the line.
As in the first race on the card, there was a taking juvenile display in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden as Queen Of Sicily (11-10 fav) made an impressive start to her career.
Jim Bolger's filly was reported to have worked well in recent weeks and justified strong market support here, settling nicely in behind the leaders before stretching clear to the tune of two and three quarter lengths once given the office by Kevin Manning.< Ucanchoose bounced back to form when getting the better of Fairy Foxglove by half a length in the Montane Developments Supporting Console Apprentice Handicap while Current State was two and three quarter lengths too strong for her rivals in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
