However, O'Grady did not witness the brace as he was at Auteuil to watch Alaivan finish sixth in the Prix Amadou.

"That was hard work, he's not an easy ride," said McNamara.

O'Grady and McNamara had earlier struck with Suffren (1-2) in the Killarney Towers Hotel Maiden.

The hot favourite had little trouble in disposing of Canis Major by four lengths.

McNamara said: "He has been working very well at home, it was probably a weak enough race but he did it well."

Davy Russell was back among the winners on his return from injury with a brace of his own on Where's The Dosh (13-2) and Archie Boy (4-1).

The latter put up a game performance to keep favourite Lucky Wish at bay by three lengths in the www.themalton.com Chase, a victory made easier after the latter made a mess of the second-last.

"We were going to go for the handicap here tomorrow but he was entitled to win this race today," said trainer Paul Flynn.

"The ground was way too soft for him at Punchestown and this is the first time this year he's got his trip and ground.

"We will keep him going throughout the summer and try find similar type races for him."

Where's The Dosh denied Queiros Bleu by a neck in the Kelly Brothers Farm Modernisation LTD Handicap Hurdle for trainer Liam Burke.
