Colm O'Donoghue stole the show in the feature Killarney Waste Disposal Ltd. Handicap as he charged to victory on Aidan O'Brien's Liszt
The rider was a long way clear from very early on, and was still well in front three furlongs out before keeping up the gallop to beat 3-1 favourite Cybersnow by a length and three-quarters, despite tiring markedly close home.
O'Brien's wife Anne-Marie said after the 6-1 success: "Colm gave that some ride and kept enough in reserve to win. Liszt is a brave horse and is improving all the time."< Rightside received the full benefit of the Chris Hayes drive as she got up to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
The Kevin Prendergast-trained 6-4 favourite had shaped encouragingly on her recent debut but Hayes was pumping away from some way out and was around five lengths adrift of She's A Staker at the distance.
Somehow the jockey managed to collar the leader right on the line.
Hayes said: "She hated that ground but her class got her through it. The experience gained at Gowran on her debut stood her well."< Ufallya (15-2) looked well-treated for the Killarney Rugby Club Development Fund Handicap having been dropped a few pounds despite running respectably on her most recent start and apprentice Shane Foley was up to the job as she ended up a comfortable scorer.
Curragh-based trainer John McConnell said: "The job is now done as she is partially owned by her breeder Rory O'Brien (involved in the Ufallya Syndicate) and he can now breed from her.
"She probably wants better ground and handled this track much better than at Ballinrobe the last day. She should make a nice four-year-old but may be kept for breeding instead."
Paul Flynn collected his third win in the past week when Bideford Legend caused a 50-1 shock in the Killarney Oaks Hotel Novice Chase, while the Adrian Maguire-trained Coola Boola (10-1) made every yard of the running under Shane Hassett to land the Allied Irish Banks Killarney Handicap Chase.
