A swift return to action made little difference to Giant's Quest as he picked up a decent pot in the Larkins Pub & Restaurant Miltown Handicap Hurdle at Killarney.
Harry Rogers' 5-1 chance struck on the all-weather at Dundalk on Saturday and reverted to timber for the first time in almost a year.
He cruised into contention early in the straight and when Our Man Zebo went with him, he pulled out more for Shane Shortall to triumph by two lengths.< Tarziyna (15-8 favourite) could have a future beyond handicap company judging by her impressive display in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.
The John Oxx-trained three-year-old has just the five runs under her belt but has now won two of them, thanks to an impressive turn of foot a couple of furlongs out that helped carry her to a four-and-a-half-length defeat of Princess Pearlita
Aidan O'Brien's excellent run of form continued when Tigris River broke his duck in the John Buckley Auctioneers Maiden.
Sent off the 4-5 favourite on the back of encouraging performances behind high-class colts Ebanoran and Fascinating Rock, he was ridden with confidence by Joseph O'Brien before collaring leader Special Tiara in the closing stages and asserting by a length and three-quarters.< Crecora (14-1) looked like swamping Port Merrion in the Killarney Avenue/Munster Joinery Handicap when coming with a wet sail down the outside, but the market leader battled hard and only went down by the narrowest of margins at the line.< Formidableopponent (7-1) was a fortunate winner of the Irish Examiner Beginners Chase.
Short-priced favourite Un Beau Roman led his rivals a merry dance and appeared to have the race sewn up coming to the last, only to get it completely wrong and he capsized, leaving Formidableopponent clear to record a 13-length victory.
Mark Walsh came in for that winning ride due to the injury suffered by Paul Carberry on Tuesday, and he followed up on 8-1 shot Baby Whizz in the Ladbrokes Handicap Chase.
