< Gimli's Rock put his best foot forward to record an exciting victory in a four-horse race for the Follow Kilbeggan Races On Twitter Hurdle.
Jessie Harrington's enigmatic character was a little reluctant at the start and looked for all the world to be struggling at one stage on the final circuit, but he eventually picked up well for Davy Russell and got into the contest in earnest.
The 7-2 shot pounced between The Bishop Looney and Beluckyagain at the second-last flight and held a clear advantage at the last before running on to beat the former by six lengths.
Russell was completing a double initiated by Peter Fahey's mare Queen Alphabet (5-1) , who had decent form in bumpers and translated it to her jumps debut, leading going to two out in the Tullamore Maiden Hurdle and comfortably holding Erlkonig by three and three-quarter lengths.< Raajih was sent off the 11-4 favourite for the Belvedere House, Gardens & Park Handicap Chase and won with some authority in a race that had its share of drama.< Aces And Kings fell when bowling along in front, and Prince Of Milan was staying on in second when unseating at the last, leaving Paul Carberry to coast in eight lengths clear on Gordon Elliott's grey.
Mark Walsh gave Nearly Nama'd a positive ride in the Westmeath Beginners Chase and the Dessie Hughes-trained six-year-old (7-2) took to the fences with relish on his introduction to the bigger obstacles, always looking in control as he beat Mackeys Forge by three and a half lengths.
Paul Duggan's point-to-point winner Long House Hall (10-1) got the better of Spot Fine to win by four and a half lengths in the hands of Johnny Burke after the pair pulled clear from the second-last in the Kinnegad Maiden Hurdle.
Adam O'Neill sent Alf Wright into the lead going to two out in the Like Kilbeggan Racecourse On Facebook Handicap Hurdle and Eoin Doyle's 4-1 shot bounded clear to win easily by nine and a half lengths.
