Review kilbeggan 11th Aug
< Chase The Favorite put up a superb front-running performance to complete a hat-trick in the Mullingar Mares Novice Hurdle at Kilbeggan.
Bryan Cooper wasn't hanging about on the Dessie Hughes-trained seven-year-old (5-2), the winner of a maiden hurdle and a beginners chase at the County Westmeath track on her last two starts.
Odds-on market leader Zuzka followed her all the way and held every chance jumping the final two flights, but didn't do herself any favours by edging left and her challenge came up short by three-quarters of a length.
Nina Carberry took the Betpack Maiden Hurdle on Charlie Swan's five-year-old Rodriguez who had shown promise in handicaps recently without being able to add to a solitary victory on the level at Dundalk.
The well-backed 9-4 favourite was always prominent and jumped to the front four out, soon going clear and staying on well to beat Stop Road Lad easily by 13 lengths.
Swan doubled up when John Cullen pulled out all the stops on Cloone Rocket (16-1) to hold a barrage of attackers at bay close home in the Kieran Kelly Memorial Beginners Chase. The victory margin was a length.< Captain Luke put in an eyecatching run when third at the Galway Festival last time and appreciated the return to a longer trip when taking the Follow Kilbeggan On Facebook Maiden Hurdle under Alain Cawley.
Gerry Lynch's eight-year-old (5-2 favourite) moved up menacingly going to four out and it was plain sailing thereafter as he led at the second-last and went clear to win by four and three-quarter lengths.
The Lar Byrne-trained Key Account (8-1) hit the front going to the second-last in the Joe Cooney Memorial Handicap Hurdle and had too many guns for Rawnaq winning by three and a half lengths in the hands of Harley Dunne.
Adrian Heskin grabbed the inner going to the last on Shabra Charity in the Hackett's Bookmakers Handicap Chase and Oliver Brady's 9-1 chance ran on strongly to beat Onzo Mor by three and a half lengths.
