On the first official day of his training career Joseph O'Brien landed an across-the-card four-timer, with a Gowran Park double initiated by Justice Frederick in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
The money came for debutant Leo Minor trained by O'Brien's father Aidan, and he deposed Justice Frederick as favourite, even though the latter had the benefit of a previous run.
The 6-4 chance stepped forward from that Tipperary third and showed a good attitude under Donnacha O'Brien to beat the market leader by a length and a half, although the second will come on significantly for the experience.< Zig Zag also went in for O'Brien in the Gowran Park Golf Club Handicap.
The 7-1 shot squeezed through against the rails to deny Phebes Dream by a neck, again in the hands of O'Brien's brother Donnacha.
The fledgling handler was also on the mark twice at Listowel but was out of luck here with Song Of Love who was never a factor in the Festival Of Speed July 17th Handicap.
The race went to Jim Bolger's 5-6 favourite Qatari Hunter who backed up Saturday's Curragh triumph and appears ahead of the handicapper.< Shepherd's Purse (13-2) got his head in front for the first time since his debut in August 2014 when making every post a winning one in the Coral.ie Handicap.
Joe Murphy's charge hasn't fulfilled those early expectations but was given an aggressive ride from Gary Carroll and held the late lunge of Reckless Endeavour by a neck.< Madroos (8-1) offered some encouragement on his Curragh debut and built on that to land the Ladies Day June 18th Maiden, denying Kitten Loves Roses by a neck.
The nine-year-old mare Enough Is Enough had only one previous victory to her credit heading into the Family Fun Day June 19th Apprentice Handicap, but it came at this venue and she doubled her tally at odds of 25-1, while 4-6 favourite Baliyka took the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden.
