Long odds-on favourite Radiantly just could not get past the pacesetting Tonkinese in the www.gowranpark.ie Median Auction Race at Gowran Park.
Michael Halford's 2-1 winner looked in trouble as Radiantly loomed upsides just after the turn for home, but Tonkinese found more in the closing stages under Shane Foley and ran on well to score by two and a quarter lengths.
Another hot favourite was beaten when Butterflies caused a 16-1 upset in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.< Decisive Intent made a bold bid from the front, but Emmett McNamara had that move covered a furlong out and Aidan O'Brien's filly stayed on well to score by a length, with even-money market leader Winter well back in third.< Flagstaff gave favourite-backers something to cheer when easing to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
Always to the fore under Declan McDonogh, the Charles O'Brien-trained 5-4 chance pulled well clear close home to score by six lengths from Cavelli
Denis Hogan's Masonbrook Lady (7-1) turned the Thomastown Handicap into a procession, charging into the lead on the home turn under Gary Halpin and bounding four lengths clear of Lizard Point
Ana O'Brien had a spot of trouble keeping Nicaragua in a straight line after she bounded clear in the Gowran Park Apprentice Handicap, but the Con O'Keeffe-trained 16-1 chance didn't stop running as she powered five and a half lengths clear of Ask Katie
Jack Kennedy may be better known for his exploits over jumps, but he would hardly have had an easier winner in that sphere than Queen Alphabet as he guided the Peter Fahey-trained 7-2 joint favourite to her third straight success on the level in the Like Gowran Park On Facebook Handicap.
Pat Meany's Enough Is Enough (7-2 favourite) carried on her love affair with Gowran Park, registering her fourth course success in the Racing Again August 10th Handicap under Gary Carroll.
