Ruby Walsh secured his first ever win in the Guinness Galway Hurdle when Clondaw Warrior stayed on well to land the big race on day four of the Galway Festival.

Walsh was happy to bide his time on the well-backed 9-2 favourite, before striking for home just before the last flight.

Willie Mullins' charge picked up well to go clear and then had enough in the tank to fend off Hidden Cyclone s late charge by half a length.

Walsh deputised for Bryan Cooper as Mullins' Bel Sas (6-4 favourite) made all to score in the Guinness Novice Hurdle, giving the pair a double on the day.< Planchart came out on top as a pair of three-year-olds dominated the finish to the Arthur Guinness EBF Corrib Fillies Stakes.

Andrew Slattery's 10-3 chance was always in close attendance to the pacesetting Rayisa and Declan McDonogh drove the filly into the lead close home to prevail by half a length.< Total Demolition managed only 10th on Wednesday, but he went much better in the Hop House 13 Handicap.

A problem with the stalls meant the race eventually got under way with a flag start, and Marshall Jennings looked set to make all when ahead in the final furlong.

Total Demolition picked up well for Conor Hoban after the turn and stormed home to get up late and score by three-quarters of a length.< Scamall Dubh caused a 66-1 upset in a pulsating finish to the Guinness Dublin Porter Beginners Chase.

Mouse Morris' charge was one of five horses who were in line on the turn for home, but he kept finding plenty for Mark Enright and came out a neck ahead of Marinero in a blanket finish.< Xsquared (4-1) came from an unpromising position on the home turn to land the Guinness Harp Novice Chase with aplomb for Peter Fahey and Kevin Sexton.
