Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen have enjoyed a week to remember already and had more reasons to cheer at Fairyhouse as Raymonda maintained her unbeaten record in the Raise Funds For Your Club Or Charity @ Fairyhouse Fillies Race.
A taking winner on her Curragh debut in October, the 11-10 chance was making her first start since here but travelled sweetly throughout, closing up stylishly to tackle leader Gift Wrap before knuckling down well when joined by market rival Cool Thunder
The pair enjoyed a good tussle inside the final furlong but Raymonda was always getting the better of the argument and had two and a quarter lengths to spare at the line.< Magical Fire (5-4 fav) broke her duck at the third time of asking when running out a comfortable victor of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
Michael O'Callaghan's filly was taking a sharp drop in class having finished fifth in Listed company at Naas last month and quickened up well once asked the question by Kieren Fallon, pulling away from Lady Beware to record a one length success.< Blairmayne (11-4 fav) helped Fallon complete a quickfire double 30 minutes later when landing the Summer Family Day & Fairyhouse July 10th Handicap by a length and a quarter.
There was to be another double later on the card as trainer Andy Oliver came up trumps with The Eyes Have It (9-2) in the Coral.ie Bet 5 Get 20 In Free Bets Handicap and Grey Blue Sky (9-2) in the Coral.ie Money Back If Beaten By A Length Or less Handicap.< Kidd Malibu was unable to justify favouritism in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden as Flying Fairies (5-2) held sway by three quarters of a length while the concluding Next Racing At Fairyhouse June 29th Handicap went the way of Bobskier (25-1) who finished strongly to land the spoils by a length and a quarter.
