There was a brace apiece at Downpatrick for Mark and Ruby Walsh as the famous horseracing name dominated proceedings at the County Down track.

Mark Walsh seized the opening Tayto Maiden Hurdle with a composed ride on Matthew Palussiere's Fine Call For much of the two miles, Robbie Hennessy's Coliseum looked the probable winner but a superior jump at the last allowed 8-1 chance Fine Call to squeeze past and record a length-and-a-half success.

Walsh then picked up his second of the day in the Danone Maiden Hurdle on Liberty Counsel

The Dot Love-trained six-year-old struggled to stay with the leading trio for much of the race but the 9-1 shot was always regaining ground on the tougher sections of the undulating circuit.
