< Native Lass just held on in a thrilling finish to the Woodrooff Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.

Mick Winters' mare was only midfield on her handicap debut at Tramore last month but stepped forward markedly and came there swinging on the bridle on the home turn.

Long-time leader Rock On Bach appeared set to be swamped at that point but battled really valiantly and was coming back at the 11-1 winner at the line, with a short head given as the official margin after a photo was called.

There was also little in the Derrygrath Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at the business end, with War Of The Pennys (9-1) pipping Manuka

The pair caught the front-running The King Of Brega at the penultimate obstacle and neither gave an inch after jumping the last, but War Of The Pennys stuck his neck out and triumphed by half a length.< Simiel ground out a determined victory in the New Inn Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained 3-1 chance set the pace and was closely attended by favourite Udogo until his superior stamina came into play over the last two, and he stayed on well to keep the late challenge of Double Windsor a length and a half at bay.< Wakea was in a different league to his opponents in the Mylerstown Maiden Hurdle.

The 4-9 favourite had a Down Royal prize taken off him after testing positive for a prohibited substance but put the record straight with an emphatic four-and-three-quarter-length defeat of Brog Deas Nua

Lisa O'Neill was seen to good effect on Whizzzey Rascal in the Kilsheelan Mares Maiden Hurdle, dictating terms to suit herself and beating Kiera Royale by six and a half lengths on the 11-4 joint-favourite.

The application of cheekpieces appeared to work the oracle for Finding Touch (9-1), who shed his maiden tag in the Giantsgrave Handicap Hurdle.
