< Mac Tiernan stole a march on his rivals in the Premier County March Handicap at Clonmel and made every post a winning one for a notable five-length success over 11-4 favourite Waydownsouth
The 14-1 shot was ending a long wait for a winner for PJ Lally, with his assistant Paul Kiernan saying: "PJ will be very disappointed not to be here as it's his first winner in five years.
"We'll look to go jumping with the winner and look for a three-year-old hurdle."
Lally's last winner came in August 2005 when The Tinker Murray won a maiden hurdle at Naas.< Echoes Of History opened his account at the fifth attempt with an all-the-way win in the All Ireland Hurling Weekend Maiden.
Sent off at 8-13 after filling the runner-up spot three times, David Wachman's chestnut proved much the best and came home seven lengths clear of Ideal Match
"He was due a win. I thought he'd win the last day at Dundalk but he ground was slow and he wants it fast," said Wachman, who saddles Hen Night in the Group One Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.
"A few horses ran disappointingly that day. I wasn't there myself but everybody was saying the same about the ground. We'll find a handicap somewhere for him."< Maal (9-4) ended a frustrating run of three seconds by getting his head back in front in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Claiming Race, reeling in Blackwitch Woman to score by half a length.
Winning trainer David Marnane said: "He'll probably go back for a handicap now. He might show up in Listowel as he ran well there last year.
"He's very consistent. Leigh (Roche) gave him a great ride. He's a very good young lad and he settled well for him today.
"We might look for something over a mile and a half and he could try Dundalk again."
A gamble on Azaboy in the Blue & Gold Maiden Hurdle went astray as Andrew Kinsella's five-year-old never got competitive in a race won by Flight Control (8-1) for the Michael Cullen stable.
